One of the most meaningful moments of my trip was taking my great-granddaughter for a walk through the Saturday Market in my hometown of Portsmouth. Along the way, I showed her the place where I was raised. The house is no longer there, and after overhearing stories from our driver about the woman who raised me, my great-granddaughter came to her own conclusion. With all the innocence only a child can have, she said, “The reason the house isn’t there anymore is because there was too much money hidden in it!” ❤️ It gave me such a good laugh. There is some truth behind the story. After Nan Pearl passed away, people discovered she had hidden money throughout the house. She kept money at home as well as in the bank, and over the years, some of the money she had saved had become obsolete as the currency changed. But what meant the most to me wasn’t the story—it was standing where my journey began and sharing that part of my life with my great-granddaughter. That is something money can never buy. Being able to walk through the streets where I grew up and share those memories with the next generation was truly priceless. It was a moment I will always cherish. If you’d like to know more about my childhood, my journey, and the experiences that shaped my life, I invite you to read my memoir, The Secret of Things. Today we visited the historic Cabrits National Park and Fort Shirley with family and friends—one of Dominica’s most significant landmarks.

Standing where history was made was truly humbling. Dominica changed hands between the French and the British 17 times before finally becoming a British colony. Walking through the fort and taking in the breathtaking views reminded us that every place has a story, and every story has helped shape the island we know and love today.

What a wonderful day of history, learning, laughter, and making memories together in the beautiful Nature Island of Dominica. 🇩🇲❤️

Some journeys are about more than visiting a place—they’re about discovering where you belong. 🌿💚

One of the most meaningful moments of our visit to the Kalinago Territory was helping my granddaughter and great-granddaughter reconnect with their family roots through their maternal grandfather’s family.

Their family traces back to the Kalinago Territory before later moving to Pointe Michel and eventually to Roseau. My daughter represents the fifth generation of that family line, my granddaughter the sixth, and my great-granddaughter the seventh.

By God’s grace, the very first person we asked pointed us in exactly the right direction. One conversation led to another, and the family connections began to come together.

Watching my granddaughter and great-granddaughter connect with their heritage was a beautiful reminder that knowing your roots honors those who came before us and preserves a legacy for generations to come. It was a blessing our family will always cherish. 🇩🇲❤️

🌴 Dominica… the Nature Island never disappoints. 🇩🇲

Today we explored the breathtaking beauty of Jungle Bay, relaxed in the natural Sulphur Pool, and stood at the historic Scotts Head, the southern tip of Dominica—where the mighty Atlantic Ocean meets the calm Caribbean Sea.

Standing on top of Scotts Head, surrounded by history and incredible views, was a reminder of just how special this island truly is. Every stop was filled with beauty, peace, and unforgettable memories.

Another amazing day in paradise. 💚

A Journey Through the Kalinago Territory 🇩🇲❤️

Today we had the privilege of visiting the beautiful Kalinago Territory, home to Dominica’s Indigenous people and the only remaining Indigenous reserve in the Caribbean.

Walking through this remarkable community, we experienced a rich culture rooted in resilience, tradition, and a deep respect for nature. From handcrafted artistry to stories passed down through generations, every moment reminded us of the importance of preserving history and honoring those who came before us.

Dominica continues to amaze me—not only with its breathtaking beauty but with the warmth, pride, and spirit of its people.

Another unforgettable day on the Nature Island. 🇩🇲

🦋No stress. No worries. Just sunshine, family, laughter, and grateful hearts. 🌴☀️🌊

Today was one of those days that reminds us how precious life truly is. The sound of reggae, the warmth of the Caribbean sun, and quality time with the people I love most… these are the moments that become treasured memories.

Life isn’t about rushing through the days. It’s about slowing down long enough to enjoy them.

Feeling blessed. Feeling grateful. Living in the moment. 🇩🇲❤️

🎶 “She’s a Lady…” 🎶

🦋❤️Today, as “She’s a Lady” plays, I’m reminded that it was one of the beautiful songs Teddy and I danced to at our wedding. Every time I hear it, it takes me back to that unforgettable day and reminds me how blessed I was to share that moment with him.

But she doesn’t see the chapters it took to wear this dress with confidence.

Behind every smile is a story.
Behind every scar is a lesson.
Behind every woman who stands tall is a journey she refused to let define her.

The Secret of Things is more than my memoir—it’s proof that our past does not determine our future.

Today, I wear black not as a symbol of darkness, but as a symbol of strength, grace, resilience, and the woman I’ve become.

To every woman carrying a secret:
Your story is not over.
Your healing is possible.
Your light will shine.
