Cooking & Baking

This is dedicated to two extraordinary women who shaped my love for the kitchen my mother, Vernice, and Nana Pearl, who helped raise me. In The Secret of Things, I share how baking and cooking with them became a source of joy, comfort, and creativity. From Nana’s bakery to my mom’s kitchen, I learned the art of food and the heart behind it. Over the years, I’ve added my own twist to every dish, making each creation uniquely mine.

These photos are not recipes just yet, but glimpses of meals and desserts I’ve enjoyed making. Soon, I’ll be sharing recipes too. Cooking and baking remain one of my greatest passions, and I’m so excited to continue this journey here with you.

Gardening

In The Secret of Things, I shared how much joy I found in visiting the garden. Today, living in a tropical climate, that joy has only grown. Over the past three years, I’ve filled my yard with avocados, bananas, plantains, mangoes, yams, herbs, spices and more  even replacing many flower trees with food trees. My neighbor lovingly calls me a “plant hoarder”, because everything I plant takes root and flourishes.

There’s no greater pleasure than stepping outside to pick a bunch of bananas, a plantain, or fresh herbs straight from the earth and bringing them into my kitchen. I never use fertilizer, so everything I grow is truly organic, nourished only by sun, rain and love.

Gardening is my sanctuary. When I’m stressed, I step outside, water my plants, and watch nature do its magnificent work. In just three years, I’ve already enjoyed mangoes and cherries from my own trees, and each harvest feels like a blessing.
